This is Volume V of the Nichols Series of Standard Divines, presenting the complete works of Thomas Brooks, a seventeenth-century Puritan divine, edited by Alexander Balloch Grosart. The volume contains six major works: "London's Lamentations," a substantial treatise on the Great Fire of London treating fire as divine judgment, exploring scriptural symbolism, God's purposes in affliction, and sins of the professing people; "The Glorious Day of the Saints' Appearance," an eschatological sermon; "God's Delight in the Progress of the Upright," exegetical sermon work; "Hypocrites Detected," a doctrinal sermon; "A Believer's Last Day Is His Best Day"; and "A Heavenly Cordial," with accompanying minor writings including "The Legacy of a Dying Mother" and "Mrs Bell's Experiences." The editor notes these are scarce tracts, some previously difficult to locate. Comprehensive indices accompany the texts.
