Bob Younger's Fate

Deane, Edwin S. [from old catalog] · 1890

This issue of The Secret Service Series (No. 28, February 1890) contains "Bob Younger's Fate" by Edwin S. Deane, a crime-detection serial. Henry Ferry's daughter Myra learns that both the Fidelity Bank in Minneapolis has been robbed and Theo Howard, the young cashier and her betrothed, has been murdered. Detective Belton investigates. Myra visits Belton veiled, seeking details; upon revealing her identity, she expresses doubt about the body's identification and suspects Julian Stark, Theo's ostensibly respectable friend, of criminal involvement. She reveals a test: Theo bore his initials tattooed on his left shoulder. The narrative breaks mid-sentence as Myra begins proposing how to verify the body's identity through this mark.
