Clément Oubrerie was a French comics artist best known for his vibrant, expressive work on the graphic novel series *Aya de Yopougon*. He was born on 23 December 1966 in France and died on 1 March 2026. Oubrerie came to comics after studying at the École des Beaux-Arts, initially working in illustration and animation before turning to bande dessinée. His signature style—warm, fluid lines and rich, saturated colors—gave his stories a lively, cinematic feel. He is most celebrated for co-creating *Aya de Yopougon* with writer Marguerite Abouet, a series set in 1970s Ivory Coast that earned international acclaim for its nuanced, humorous portrayal of everyday life. Oubrerie also illustrated *Pablo*, a biography of Pablo Picasso, and *À mains nues*, a historical graphic novel about the pioneering surgeon Suzanne Noël. His later work continued to explore biographical and social themes. Oubrerie received multiple awards for *Aya de Yopougon*, including the Angoulême International Comics Festival Prize for First Album. His legacy rests on bringing warmth and humanity to stories that bridged cultures and generations.
