This first volume of the 2002 Dargaud edition collects the opening chapters of Riyoko Ikeda's classic historical manga, originally serialized in the 1970s. Set in the opulent court of pre-revolutionary France, it follows the life of Oscar François de Jarjayes, a noblewoman raised as a man to serve as commander of the Royal Guard, and her entanglement with Queen Marie Antoinette and the dashing Count Fersen. The story weaves personal drama with the political tensions leading up to the French Revolution.
