Alice au pays des merveilles #[nn]
This French-language adaptation of Lewis Carroll's *Alice au pays des merveilles*, published by Métamorphose/Soleil in 2010, is a genuine visual treat — illustrator Benjamin Lacombe wraps the story in a deep teal cover adorned with gold card-suit symbols (spades, hearts, diamonds, clubs) and intricate dark scrollwork, with a faint Cheshire Cat grin lurking at the top. At the center, a wide-eyed Alice in a pale Victorian dress cradles the White Rabbit against a starry background, the whole composition feeling like a treasured antique tome brought magically to life. Lacombe's painterly, slightly otherworldly style gives Wonderland a dreamlike gravity that makes this edition genuinely hard to put down.
