Acqua Alta #2
Daria Schmitt's second episode of *Acqua Alta* continues this quietly haunting series from Casterman, and the cover alone makes a compelling case for the whole journey. Two figures draped in deep crimson cloaks perch on a submerged ledge, gazing out over a flooded cityscape where rooftops and domed architecture barely break the waterline — a massive dark monolith looming ominously in the middle distance, while white herons drift through the pale, hazy sky around them. The atmosphere Schmitt creates here in 2010 is melancholy and painterly, blending environmental dread with an almost meditative stillness that sets this series apart.
