Zack Mosley
Zack Terrell Mosley was born on December 12, 1906, and died on December 21, 1993. An American comic strip artist, he is best known for creating the long-running aviation adventure *The Adventures of Smilin' Jack*, which appeared in over 300 newspapers from 1933 to 1973. Mosley's path into comics began with his passion for aviation, which he channeled into the strip's airborne exploits and gadgetry. His signature style blended clean, dynamic linework with a keen sense of aerial action and character-driven humor. Over his career, Mosley worked as artist, inker, letterer, and writer on 61 issues, with his most credited titles including *Popular Comics*, *Smilin' Jack*, *Four Color*, *Large Feature Comic*, and a *Smilin' Jack* shoe store giveaway. He also contributed to the *Omar Super-Book of Comics*. His key collaborators included the writers and editors at the syndicates that distributed his work. Mosley's legacy is that of a pioneer who brought aviation adventure to the funny pages, influencing later adventure strips. He received no major awards recorded in the source material, but his strip's four-decade run stands as his enduring achievement.
