Sverre Årnes

Sverre Årnes was born on 14 May 1949 in Surnadal Municipality, Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. He is best known as a prolific writer of serial novels and comic scripts, with over 220 book titles and roughly a thousand short stories published since 1978. His most celebrated work is the *Storset saga* trilogy, which includes the series *Jordmoren*, *Lokketoner*, and *Hjertets røst*. *Jordmoren* ran for 66 titles and was translated into Polish as *Akuzerka*; Årnes wrote it under the female pseudonym Sigrid Lunde. He also created the book serials *Blodsbånd* (25 titles), *Vaterlandsjenta* (16 titles), and the action thriller series *COBRA* (8 titles). In comics, he wrote scripts for *The Phantom* and *Agent 007* (James Bond), and originated the popular comic magazine *Olsenbanden* based on the film series. He later wrote annual scripts for *Vangsgutane*. Årnes also wrote and directed prize-winning short films and penned the script for Oddvar Bull Tuhus’s 1988 feature film *Blücher*. He received the 1986 Daily Mail Trophy in London as a writer and director, and a 2004 Gold Medal in Austria’s Euro Film Movie Competition. In 2003, he moved with his wife Florlien and daughter Angelina Maria to the Philippines; since 2012 he has lived between Cebu, Norway, and Gran Canaria.
