Scott Adams
Scott Raymond Adams was born on June 8, 1957, and died on January 13, 2026, at age 68. He is best known as the creator of *Dilbert*, a comic strip that launched in 1989 and became a defining satire of white-collar corporate life. Before drawing full-time, Adams worked in various business roles, which gave him the material for his signature strip. *Dilbert* gained national prominence in the mid-1990s, eventually reaching a worldwide audience and spawning numerous books. Adams wrote across genres, including the pandeistic novella *God’s Debris* (2001) and works on management and politics such as *Loserthink* (2019). In the mid-2010s, he also emerged as an independent political commentator. His catalog credits include 58 issues as artist, colorist, inker, letterer, or writer, with *Dilbert* and related collections like *Dogbert* being his most prominent. In February 2023, after making racist comments on his YouTube channel, *Dilbert* was dropped by many newspapers and its syndicator; Adams relaunched it as a webcomic a month later. He retired from drawing in 2025 following a prostate cancer diagnosis but continued writing the strip until his death. His legacy is that of a sharp observer of office culture whose later years were marked by controversy.
