Lothar Dräger
Lothar Dräger, born January 19, 1927, in Germany, was a comic writer best known for his work on the long-running German comic series *Mosaik*. He died on July 9, 2016. Dräger entered the comics field later in life, contributing as both a writer and artist across 51 issues from 1976 to 1984. His most credited title was *Mosaik*, where he collaborated with other creators to shape the adventures of the series’ iconic characters, the Abrafaxe. Dräger’s work on *Mosaik* is remembered for its engaging storytelling and historical themes, which helped define the series during its peak years. While he did not co-create the Abrafaxe themselves, his writing contributed to their enduring popularity in East German and later reunified German comics. After his active period, Dräger’s legacy rests on his steady, reliable contributions to one of Germany’s most beloved comic series. He did not receive major awards widely noted in English-language sources, but his work remains a staple of German comic history.
