José Cabrero Arnal
José Cabrero Arnal, often credited as C. Arnal, was born on September 6, 1909, in Spain. He is best known for creating the beloved comic strip *Pif le chien* and the series *Placid et Muzo*. Though he spent most of his professional life in France, he never became a naturalized French citizen. Arnal entered the comics field in his native Spain before relocating to France, where his work flourished. His signature style combined clean, expressive lines with gentle humor, making his animal characters instantly recognizable. He collaborated extensively with the French comics press, particularly through the magazines *Vaillant* and *Pif Gadget*, where his strips became staples. *Pif le chien*, his most famous co-creation, debuted in 1948 and went on to become a cultural icon in France, spawning merchandise and a long-running magazine. *Placid et Muzo*, featuring two mischievous animal friends, also enjoyed lasting popularity. Arnal continued drawing into his later years, leaving a legacy as a key figure in Franco-Spanish comics. He passed away on September 7, 1982, one day after his 73rd birthday. His contributions have been recognized with several major awards in the comics field.
