Arturo Rojas de la Cámara

Arturo Rojas de la Cámara, born on December 22, 1930, in Spain, was a children's cartoonist best known for his long-running collaboration with Editorial Valenciana. He began his career in comics in the 1950s, contributing to the Spanish humor magazine *Pumby*, where he worked as an artist, inker, letterer, and writer on twenty issues between 1960 and 1964. His style was characterized by clean, expressive lines and a gentle, whimsical sense of humor that appealed to young readers. Rojas de la Cámara often worked with writer and editor José María Blasco, co-creating several series for the publisher. His most notable creation was the title character *Pumby*, a cheerful cat who starred in his own magazine, which ran for decades. After his active period in the 1960s, Rojas de la Cámara continued to illustrate children's books and comics, though he gradually withdrew from the industry. He passed away on January 8, 2019, at age 88. While he did not receive major international awards, his work remains fondly remembered in Spain for its warmth and enduring appeal to young audiences.
